Members We LOVE Profile: Tamara Sirota of Crane's Landing Coaching & Holistic Services

Bringing in new Members We LOVE into Happy Healthy Women, normally means that we love a product or service, we have used it ourselves, it's tried, tested and true to us, and we are confident in sharing that with our community. Our latest member though, comes to us in a different way, however, we do fully believe in her services and absolutely commend this strong woman for a) living through her own personal story, and b) being willing to help others because of it. Meet Tamara Sirota; Founder, coach, and healer at Crane's Landing Coaching and Holistic Services. Take a read below on this amazing gal.

The Interview

1. So, what do you do?

Through my company, Crane's Landing,I help survivors of domestic abuse who feel stuck in their grief, create their own healing so they can step into fulfilling, abuse-free lives with determination and confidence.

2. What ignited the spark in you to start your business? How did the idea for your business come about?

I started Crane’s Landing Coaching and Holistic Services because I want to live in a world where survivors of domestic abuse are never alone in their healing process – no matter how long that takes. During my own grieving and healing journey, I noticed that few resources were available to survivors post-shelter and that it could be very difficult to find someone who could hold space for me to talk about the losses I experienced and the grief I was feeling. For me, it would have made such a difference to have had access to the centralized support and services I was looking for post-shelter when I was facing some of my hardest work and toughest challenges. I founded Crane’s Landing to help address these needs and close that gap for other survivors.

3. What sets you apart from other entrepreneurs in your line of work?

Most of the support available to survivors of domestic abuse post-shelter takes the form of counseling or psychotherapy. While this type of work is valuable, it is not necessarily for everyone or what survivors need at certain points in their journeys.

For me, domestic violence affects a person in so many ways – physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Rather than focus on healing one aspect of the self, like the mind, I help survivors create healing for themselves on multiple levels. In my 90-day intensive Reclaim Yourself, Reclaim Your Life program, I combine grief coaching, Reiki, Sekhem, and past life regression in unique ways to help survivors heal on multiple levels, see themselves as experts on their own grieving and healing journeys, and fully step into the fulfilling, abuse-free lives they have worked so hard to create.

4. How have you changed since becoming an entrepreneur?

Becoming an entrepreneur has really helped me stretch and grow. It’s something that I never thought I would be doing and I am still very surprised to find myself on this path. Since bringing Crane’s Landing to life, I’ve developed by business skills and knowledge, have increased my level of self-confidence, and have had many opportunities to challenge and shift my mindset. Becoming an entrepreneur has pushed me to explore my edges, rethink what is possible for both me and my future, and discover a whole new side of myself. I am so glad that I took the leap!

5. Excluding your own, what company do you admire the most?

An organization that I truly admire is the Scarborough Centre for Healthy Communities (SCHC). It is a fantastic community organization that supports individuals at all stages of life. The staff – especially those in the hospice program – are incredibly passionate about what they do and SCHC’s dedicated volunteers invest all that they are into their work. The SCHC is always striving to be the very best it can be and is making a tremendous impact in the Scarborough community. They always have great programming and initiatives!

6. Which quotation is inspiring you the most right now?

The quotation that is definitely inspiring me the most right now is, “A ship is safe in harbor, but that’s not what ships are for.” Seeing William Shedd’s words on my desk every day reminds me to take risks, take chances, and do all that I can to live the most fulfilling, abuse-free life I could possibly imagine.
